A Poem for Veterans Day

The flag is waving way up high
A flutter in the breeze
A symbol of our way of life
And of our liberties

Our soldiers fought to keep that flag
A flying o'er the land
They paid the price and sacrificed
So that we'd understand

That this land called America
Could be a land of choice
Where everyone could have a say
And speak out with their voice

And so to Veterans this day
Shall praise and honor be
They fought for you; they fought for me
And that is why we're free

Smile Today

I promised myself I'd smile today

No matter what happened to come my way

In everything I'd do or say

I promised myself I'd laugh a lot

I'll chuckle and gag while others fought

A sense of humor's what I've got

Even if the world's in such a mess

I'm feelin' real good I must confess

And do the things I know I should

I'd help out others if I could
